Camille worked 12 years in public relations (food & beverage marketing), including 4 years in Beijing. In January 2009, she left the marketing world and settled as a full-time freelance photographer, and started to work on her first collage pieces.

She lives in Hong Hong since 2015 where she runs a weekly photography & visual arts workshop at Montessori primary school.

Since 2016 Camille has fully integrated the three-dimensional photocollage technic into her artistic work, which allows her to push the boundaries of photography and explore new fields such as time layers and distortion of reality.

Handmade in Hong Kong with care
This recent work is issued from her 3D photocollage series dedicated to the Hong Kong neon signs. The idea here is to extract the neon from its urban environment, so that the proportions can be altered.

Displayed in feminine hands that seem to not only be holding the neon but also caring and cherishing it, it becomes a precious and unique object. In the meantime, the vintage look of the hands and gloves gives a clue on the period of time when the neon signs were flourishing.

The ambition is to draw attention to these very unique urban elements. The neon signs are disappearing from the Hong Kong streets, and they soon will no longer diffuse this unique radiance that used to make the uniqueness of Hong Kong and inspired many visual artists.

This embroidered work is Camille’s tribute to the Hong Kong neon signs, the handmade craftsmanship, and the past Hong Kong culture.
